Description

What truly sets this blanco tequila apart from rival brands is its smoothness. Despite not being aged, El Jimador Blanco is as smooth and easy to drink as another distiller’s reposado variant and mixes well. On The Nose

El Jimador tequila flagship name honors the master harvesters of the blue agave plant for tequila and mezcal production. [ 1] Jimador Blanco Tequila is a solid and well-made distillate that has been around since 1897 and ranks among the worlds most popular tequilas. This is not a handmade product or anything particularly valuable, but it is a discrete tequila that does not let you down and is clean and precise from a technical point of view.It has an appealing aroma, and it starts with roasted agave scents on the nose, followed by vanilla, oak wood, and pepper spice with a hint of alcohol. It has a warm, relatively smooth long finish with alcohol astringency. It has lingering oak, vanilla, peppery spice, and a bit of cinnamon flavor at the tail end. Our Thoughts First Sip The old distillery was shut down in the 1960’s and replaced with a newer modern facility, but the old buildings were maintained as a museum. In the 1970’s, the company introduced their first aged expressions, expanding beyond blanco tequila for the first time. El Jimador Reposado is naturally fermented and double distilled. It is aged for two months in American oak barrels before bottling. What El Jimador Reposado Tequila Tastes Like Nose This top-of-the-line Añejo tequila from El Jimador never fails to impress. Whilt not as rich as the more expensive Don Julio Añejo, this year-aged tequila remains a bargain.

The Añejo is undisputedly a paragon of sipping tequilas, while the Blanco is a great shooter and mixer. Lastly, the Reposado represents an intelligent compromise between the two. Tequila production on what would become the Herradura distillery started in the early 19th century, started by a man named Feliciano Romo. In 1870, Félix López took over the property and registered it as a legal distillery named Hacienda San José del Refugio. The distillery remained in the family even after Félix’s death in 1878, operated first by his wife and later by her brother, Aurelio López. The medicinal and other harsh notes are present on the palate. Although it is bearable, sometimes, the mouthfeel has a prominent bitter and light vegetal hint.era El Jimador is a Lowlands spirit, unaged and named in honor of the jimador, a Mexican agave harvester. Theres modest pepper on the nose, with red chiles, lemon, coconut, and roasted meats. The body is a little all over the place, with notes of chile oil, grilled pineapple, more lemon, and a sultry agave/herbal character on the finish. Theres quite a bit of that funky meat character on the finish, but its not overwhelming or pungent. I've no idea how this compares to the mixto version (which I have no desire to try unless by some miracle it is actually better than this), but I can say that it walks all over the other mixtos I've tried.

Pretty boring bottle. Nothing of note here, although the fact that it's a tall bottle means it's easier to find in our crowded liquor cabinet :P This Reposado impresses with notes of vanilla, baked apple, cinnamon, fresh agave, and oak. On The Palate Usually, a little bit of ice is a death sentence for flavors that are too light or not well saturated enough to stand up to those harsh conditions. And, sadly, that’s exactly what is going on here. As with all Herradura tequila, this starts as a crop of blue agave plants which are harvested and have their leaves removed. What remains is the tough and fibrous core of the plant, which is cooked in an oven to convert those fibers into sugar. The plants are then crushed to release the fluid, and that fluid is fermented to convert the sugar into alcohol. At this point, it is distilled three times to create the new blanco tequila. We recommend mixing El Jimador Reposado in various fun concoctions, making the perfect delicious punch at parties.Like other El Jimador tequilas, Blanco uses only pure Weber blue agave. These notes are present throughout the spirit and are joined on the nose with fresh citrus, vegetal, and light wood aromas. On The Palate The brand was the seventh-biggest-selling Tequila in the world, according to The Brand Champions 2023 report. It sold 1.7 million nine-litre cases last year, an increase of 21.4%. El Jimador Reposado is the company’s take on this classic, best-of-both-worlds tequila style, aged in American oak barrels for two months. It impresses with a smooth golden colour and an even smoother taste. Mixto, on the other hand, starts with a blend of agave juice and other sugarsglucose or fructose, or bothusually in the form of a sugar syrup. Mixtos were invented as a way to stretch the supply of agave and lower production costs. By law, they must be 51% agave. Most of us drank more than enough of this stuff in college. The producer uses 100% Blue Weber agave for its range of Tequilas, which includes blanco, reposado and añejo.

After adding ice, the harsh notes tuned down the pepper heat and some bitterness from the vegetal and medicinal hints, making it a better sipper. Look out for faint spice and peppery notes in between the swirl of agave flavours. This finish is smooth, soft, and dangerously inviting. Best Served Blanco is El Jimador’s take on silver tequila or tequila that hasn’t spent any time ageing in oak barrels. Because of that, this vibrant tequila is fresh and crystal clear. There are some major differences between tequila and vodka, though they are both distilled spirits: Tequila is made from the blue agave plant and vodka is made from a starch or sugar rich plant. Tequila is distilled into five different types, while vodka only has one form. Tequila has varied taste and vodka doesn’t. Bought 2nd June 2011 from Selfridge's, Birmingham, England, for a trip to Stonehenge; I wanted something to introduce some friends to 100% agave tequila, and it looks like I really hit paydirt.A shaker filled with ice and El Jimador Reposado is the best way to enjoy a pure taste of El Jimador. Drink slowly from a shot glass after straining. Aromatic notes of citrus and cinnamon, as well as a bold, ripe agave character. It may be that some swear by serving a citrus garnish, but do as you please.
